Waffle Robe vs. Terry Robe: Which Bathrobe Is Right for You?

Both are made from cotton. Both feel great. But a waffle robe and a terry robe behave very differently — and the right one depends on how you’ll actually use it.

Terry: plush and absorbent

Terry is the classic looped-pile robe — the heavy, towel-like fabric you find in hotels. It’s the most absorbent option and feels enveloping straight out of the shower. The trade-off: it’s heavier, takes longer to dry, and can feel warm in summer.

Waffle: light, breathable, quick-drying

Waffle (honeycomb) weave uses a textured grid instead of dense loops. That makes it lightweight, breathable, and fast-drying, while still absorbing well. It’s the better choice for warm climates, travel, lounging, or anyone who finds terry too heavy. Our Cloud Waffle Bathrobe is woven from long-staple Turkish cotton for exactly this feel.

Side by side

Waffle Terry
Weight Light Heavy
Absorbency High Highest
Drying speed Fast Slower
Best for Warm rooms, lounging, travel Cold mornings, max absorbency

Which should you choose?

  • Run warm, small bathroom, or travel often → waffle.
  • Want the heaviest, most spa-like wrap → terry.
  • Not sure → waffle is the more versatile year-round robe.

A note on jacquard

If you want texture with a bit more structure than waffle, a jacquard weave (like our Côte Jacquard Bathrobe) sits nicely in between — soft, two-tone, and still breathable.
