What muslin actually is

Muslin is a plain-woven cotton gauze — a light, open weave with a soft, slightly textured surface. Made from long-staple Turkish cotton, it’s one of the most breathable fabrics you can put on a bed.

Fiber length matters as much as the weave. Caring for muslin

Machine wash cool, tumble dry low, skip fabric softener (it coats the fibers). Wrinkles are part of the texture rather than a fault. If you want a smoother look, take the bedding out of the dryer while it’s still slightly damp and smooth it flat to finish drying. Either way, it’ll only get softer.
