The weave
A robe made from waffle behaves differently than a terry one. The open cell structure lets steam out instead of trapping it, so you are not overheated five minutes after a hot shower, and the cotton dries on its hook rather than staying clammy until evening. Absorbency comes from all that ridged surface area. And with no dense pile to carry, the robe stays light across the shoulders.

What is the fit like?Relaxed, not oversized, and it wraps and ties at the waist. S/M covers roughly XS through medium builds; L/XL runs large through extra large. If you are between the two and like room, take the larger one.
Does it get softer?Yes. Straight from the box the weave is crisp and a little structured. Two or three warm washes settle it, and it keeps softening from there. Leave out the fabric softener, which coats the cotton and cuts absorbency.
Is it warm enough year-round?It is a lightweight robe, so it reads as comfortable in spring and summer and as a layer, not a coat, in winter. Over pajamas on a cold morning it works. On its own in a chilly house, less so.
