The making
Made slowly, in small batches.
The color
Clean and unmixed, with no cream or grey pulled through it, so it reads as white in any light — against warm plaster it stays crisp, against white tile it matches rather than contrasts.
On a cloth this pale the grid does all the work: raised squares catch the light, the recesses hold a faint shadow, and the texture registers before the color ever does.
Run your hand over the surface and you feel it before you see it — firm ridges, soft recesses, a cloth with grip to it.
The weave
The grid is the whole point. Raised squares and shallow recesses give the cloth an open, almost architectural structure, so water spreads across a wide textured face and evaporates outward instead of settling deep in a pile. Less mass to saturate means a lighter towel on the rail, a shorter spin in the machine, and a cloth that is dry again by the time you need it. Washing breaks it in rather than wearing it down — the weave relaxes, the cotton softens, the towel stays light.

Styling
Cloud White is the default, and it earns it. It gets along with everything already in the bathroom — white tile, marble, oak, brass, matte black — and it is the shade to buy when you want the texture to be the only thing on show. Hung beside Amber Oat or Rose Clay it does the cooling; beside Pearl Mist it is the cleaner and brighter of the two. Two bath towels and two hand towels cover one person with a spare always in rotation.

Does the color change when wet?It deepens by roughly a shade while damp and returns as it dries. On a white this reads as the weave darkening rather than the color moving.
Does it get softer over time?Yes, and quickly. The first wash takes the crispness out; by the fourth or fifth it has settled into its real hand. Skip fabric softener — it coats cotton and slows absorbency, which is the one thing this weave is built for.
How do I keep a white towel white?Wash it with other whites and skip chlorine bleach — it yellows cotton over time and weakens the weave. A warm wash with a mild detergent does more than a hot one, and drying the cloth fully, on the line or on low heat, is what keeps it looking fresh.
