Aurea Muslin Coverlet
Clay — reads like the last hour of daylight on a plaster wall, a warm terracotta borrowed from unglazed pottery and sun-baked earth rather than anything bright.

The making
Made slowly, in small batches.
The color
Spread across a bed, it holds its depth in the folds and lightens where the cotton catches the light, so the surface never sits flat.
The tone shifts through the day: rust at dusk, closer to apricot at midday.
It brings temperature to a room without adding a single degree.
The weave
Muslin is a plain, open weave. Fine cotton yarns are set with space between them, closer to gauze than to sheeting. That openness is what moves air, which is why the coverlet works over a duvet in January and alone in July. It ships washed, so the cotton has already relaxed and shrunk. Each cycle through your machine breaks the fibers down a little further.
- Open muslin weave, pre-washed before it ships
Styling
Clay wants wood nearby. Set it against walnut or white oak, an oiled nightstand, a rattan bench at the foot of the bed. It sits comfortably with oatmeal linen sheets, cream percale, and the odd stripe in charcoal. Layer it in October over a heavier duvet and let the edges fall long. For accents, pull from the same earth family: a stoneware lamp base, dried grasses, an ochre throw folded in thirds. Keep the whites slightly warm rather than optic.
Frequently asked
Is it warm enough year-round?On its own it's a spring-through-fall weight. In winter, most people layer it over a duvet, where it adds a little insulation and keeps the top layer from sliding. Returns stay open 30 days.
How does the color wear over time?Clay is a warm mid-tone, so it hides settling and everyday wear better than a pale shade. Expect it to soften a half-step over the first year of washing, then hold steady.
Will it shrink?Very little. The cloth is washed before it's cut and sewn, so the bulk of the shrinkage has already happened. Wash cold, dry on low, and the 79" × 94" measurement holds.
