The making
Made slowly, in small batches.
The color
The grey runs cool and slightly blue, the color of wet slate drying out, or of a morning before the sun clears the roofline.
On a made bed it behaves like a neutral rather than a color, receding so the shapes in the room, the line of a headboard, the fall of a curtain, come forward.
Under lamplight it deepens toward charcoal.
It photographs cooler than it looks in person, which is worth knowing before you order.
The weave
Think gauze rather than sheet. The yarns are spun fine and woven loosely, leaving thousands of small gaps that let body heat pass straight through instead of banking under the layer. Because the fabric arrives already laundered, the shrinkage is behind it and the hand is soft on day one. It only goes further from there. Every wash loosens the twist and the drape improves.
- Open muslin weave, pre-washed and pre-shrunk
Styling
Monochrome is the easy route here: white walls, white sheeting, Mineral on top, and nothing else competing. Keep the lines tailored. Corners tucked, a single fold at the foot, no throw pillows beyond two. Black metal, brushed nickel, and pale concrete all read correctly against it. If the room needs one break in the grey, make it small and matte: a dark ceramic vase, an unframed print, a linen lampshade in bone.
Frequently asked
How does it compare to a quilt?A quilt has batting between two layers and traps heat. This is a single length of open cotton, so it weighs far less, breathes considerably better, and drapes instead of sitting stiff across the mattress.
Is it reversible?Yes. Mineral is the same grey on both faces with no right or wrong side, so you can flip it end to end to even out where it takes the most wear.
Can it go on a King bed?Queen is the only size we make. At 79" × 94" it covers a King mattress top but won't drop far at the sides; some buyers use it as a foot-of-bed layer instead.
