100% Turkish Cotton Muslin

Lightly quilted four-layer weave

Made in Türkiye

The making

Made slowly, in small batches.

The color

Pulled across a bed, it gives an otherwise pale room a temperature.

The quilting shows as a faint grid over the surface and the muslin gathers into soft, irregular folds at the edges, so the color deepens in the creases and lightens where the fabric lies flat.

The weave

LoftWeave is four layers of Turkish cotton muslin stacked and then lightly quilted. The stitching turns four loose layers into one piece — it holds them in register, adds a bit of structure, and stops the muslin shifting when the bed is made. Air still moves through, so the coverlet traps a modest amount of warmth without heating up, and it stays remarkably light for the amount of cover it gives.

  • Four soft muslin layers, lightly quilted

Styling

Terra does its best work in a room with little else going on: white walls, an unfinished wood frame, one lamp with a linen shade. Fold it in thirds at the foot of the bed through summer, then bring it up over the sheet when nights cool. In a room that already leans warm, keep the pillowcases white so the terracotta stays the single point of color.

Frequently asked

Quilted or unquilted coverlet — which? The unquilted Aurea coverlet at $189 is the lighter, more summery option. LoftWeave adds the fourth layer and the quilting, which is what makes it warmer and gives it more body on the bed. Pick by season and weight.

Is it warm enough alone in winter? In a heated bedroom, many people use it on its own year-round. In a cold room it works better as a layer — over a duvet, or under a blanket — since its warmth comes from trapped air.

Does it fit a King bed?LoftWeave is made in Queen only (86 × 94 in). On a King it will not reach the sides properly, so it would need to sit folded across the foot of the bed rather than serve as the main top layer.

LoftWeave is also made in Olive, Shell and Dune. See the full collection.
