The making
Made slowly, in small batches.
The color
This is pale blue at its quietest, closer to the white end than to any true blue, with a faint grey underneath that keeps it from turning nursery.
Morning light thins it almost to nothing.
By late afternoon it settles into something more definite, still soft, and the folds pool in a slightly deeper shade.
Against white walls it can nearly disappear; against a darker headboard it steps forward.
The weave
Muslin's usefulness comes from what isn't there. Space between the yarns means the fabric traps very little heat, so a sleeper who overheats under a quilt can usually stay under this one. The cotton is combed fine, then run through a wash before packing. Handling it new, you're feeling fabric that has already been through its first shrink. It packs down small enough to keep folded at the foot of the bed.

Styling
Rooms with a lot of daylight take this best: pale floors, sheer curtains, a headboard in natural cane or whitewashed pine. Sky pairs with white sheeting almost by default, though sand, seagrass green, and a washed navy stripe all hold their own beside it. Come May, strip the duvet entirely and use it as the only layer. Keep the accessories low-contrast. Raw ceramics, a glass carafe, one bunch of something green on the sill.

Does it work as a summer-only layer?It can be, and plenty of people use it that way from May to September. Others leave it on year-round and slide a duvet underneath once the nights turn.
Does it get softer with use?Noticeably. Muslin loosens as the yarns relax, so the piece you unpack is the stiffest it will ever be. Around wash five or six it starts to feel properly broken in.
Will the color fade in a sunny room?Pale shades show change more slowly than saturated ones, so Sky ages gently. Even so, avoid drying it in direct sun, and rotate it end to end now and then.
