The making
Made slowly, in small batches.
The color
At 200 × 240 cm this reaches past the mattress on both sides of a queen, and the check stays in scale — the squares are large enough not to turn busy across that much cloth.
Oat Veil sits a shade warmer than white sheets, which keeps the layering visible instead of flattening into one pale block.
The weave
Heritage cloth is made on a loom by hand, one length at a time, and small irregularities in the check are part of what that process produces. The yarn is cotton, which breathes, so the piece will not turn clammy over a sleeping body. Weight sits in the middle range and the drape is easy — the cloth folds over a mattress edge without holding hard creases.

Styling
Use it as the top layer and let the check do the work a patterned duvet usually has to. Over white sheets in a room with plenty of daylight, Oat Veil warms the whole bed without introducing color. Through summer it can be the only cover; in colder months it goes over the duvet, folded back at the pillows or pulled up whole. It sits well beside rattan, unfinished wood and pale plaster walls.
Frequently asked
Will it cover a queen bed?Yes. At 200 × 240 cm it covers the mattress and falls down both sides with enough left to tuck at the foot. On a king it works as a centered top layer rather than full coverage.
How is this different from the throw?Same cloth, same weave, smaller scale. The throw is 160 × 220 cm — a sofa, a chair, one person under a blanket. The coverlet is the bed layer.
How should I wash it?Warm water in the machine, low heat in the dryer. Nothing further is required. Leaving fabric softener out of the cycle keeps the hand crisp and preserves the way this cotton breathes.
