Honeycomb waffle weave

The making

Made slowly, in small batches.

The color

It is the color for people who want white without the upkeep of white: it carries a day of use better than true white does, and still reads clean on the rail.

Done as a whole set it gives a bathroom the hotel look, where nothing is sorted by owner and nothing is left on the counter.

What you notice on a pale towel is texture, and the honeycomb supplies plenty of it.

The weave

Miel is built on a honeycomb structure — small raised cells that give the cotton depth without adding weight. The pockets pull water in and let air move straight through them, so the cloth wicks fast and gives its moisture up on the rail instead of holding it. Less mass to saturate means a lighter towel, a shorter spin, and a stack of six that takes a fraction of the shelf terry would. On a shade this light the raised cells do most of the visual work, which is why the cloth never looks blank.

  • Small raised cells — texture without extra weight
  • Dries faster than terry, with less bulk on the rail and in the machine
  • Crisp when new; the cells relax and the hand softens from the third or fourth wash

Frequently asked

Will it stay this pale? With ordinary habits, yes. Wash it with your other light linens in warm water, use an oxygen brightener when it dulls, and skip fabric softener, which yellows cotton over time. Drying in daylight does more than most products do.

How does honeycomb compare to terry?Terry uses long loops that hold a great deal of water and stay damp for hours. Honeycomb trades that volume for open cells, so it takes water up quickly and is dry again between uses. It is the lighter cloth in the hand and on the rail.

Which set size should I buy?Two pieces per size covers one person with nothing spare. Four works for a couple. Six is what you want if you would rather not time your laundry around your shower — there is always a clean one on the rail.

The Difference is in the Cotton

Aegean cotton used in Calinea Turkish towels

The Origin

Why Turkish Aegean Cotton Towels Feel Unrivaled.

Grown along Türkiye's Aegean coast, Aegean cotton is prized for its long-staple fibers and naturally smooth hand — the same qualities that make Turkish cotton towels a benchmark for softness worldwide. For Calinea, this premium cotton is the foundation of every bath towel we make.

Long-staple Turkish Aegean cotton fibers

The Fiber

Long-Staple Cotton Fibers, Built to Last.

Long-staple cotton fibers spin into smoother, stronger yarns with less bulk than standard cotton — a cleaner weave and a silkier surface that holds up wash after wash.
