The embroidery
The botanical band is stitched onto a flat woven panel rather than into the pile, because a raised loop will not hold a fine line. That panel is what gives the leaves their crispness. Each frond is drawn three times over — an outline, a filled body, then the veining laid on top. In this colorway the palette runs from the rose of the cloth to a deep clay brown, so the motif has genuine contrast rather than reading as a tonal shadow. Embroidery is thread, not print, so it will not crack or fade off the cloth; wash it as you would the towel and it ages at the same rate.

The making
Made slowly, in small batches.
The color
Not a hint of warmth in a cream — an actual soft rose, with enough depth to hold its own against stone and timber.
The embroidery follows it: the leaves are worked in tones drawn from the ground itself, a mid rose for the bodies and a deep clay, almost brown, for the stems and outlines.
That darker thread is what keeps the whole thing from turning sweet.
On a pink towel the easy mistake is matching thread to cloth exactly, which reads as decoration; here the drawing has a shadow in it, and the botanical band looks worked rather than applied.
Underneath, the same 550 g/m² combed Turkish terry with its fine allover jacquard, and the same flat woven panel that keeps the stitching crisp.
The weave
Combed cotton is cotton drawn through a comb before spinning, so the short fibers are pulled out and only the long ones are twisted into yarn. Fewer loose ends means less lint in the first months, a smoother hand, and loops that keep their shape through years of washing. At 550 g/m² Folia is a genuinely plush towel — substantial when you lift it, slower on the rail than a waffle would be, and that density is exactly what makes it absorbent. It is the towel for a long bath rather than a quick rinse.
- Combed Turkish cotton — longer, smoother fibers for an exceptionally soft, durable towel
- Plush terry weave — dense, velvety loops with a soft, luxurious hand
- Highly absorbent — designed to dry comfortably and efficiently
- Soft yet substantial — plush and indulgent without feeling overly heavy
Styling
This is the color for a bathroom that needs warming rather than decorating — white tile, chrome, a north-facing window with no sun in it. Rose does what cream cannot in a cold room, and the deep clay in the embroidery ties it to timber and terracotta if the room has either. It is also the obvious gift of the four: a hand and a bath towel in this color read as chosen. If you want the softest possible pairing, put it beside Cloud White rather than Oat Veil — oat and rose both carry warmth and slightly compete.
Frequently asked
How pink is it?Properly pink — a soft rose, not a warm cream. It is the most colorful of the four Folia colorways, and the one where the embroidery is easiest to see from across the room.
Will the embroidery survive washing?Yes. It is stitched, not printed, and worked on a flat woven panel that does not distort in the wash. Wash cold or warm with like colors and skip the fabric softener — softener coats thread and cotton alike and dulls both.
Does a plush towel take longer to dry?It does, and that is the trade. Density is what makes the cloth absorbent — a deeper pile holds more water and releases it over a longer hang.

The Difference is in the Cotton

The Origin
Why Turkish Aegean Cotton Towels Feel Unrivaled.
Grown along Türkiye's Aegean coast, Aegean cotton is prized for its long-staple fibers and naturally smooth hand — the same qualities that make Turkish cotton towels a benchmark for softness worldwide. For Calinea, this premium cotton is the foundation of every bath towel we make.

The Fiber
Long-Staple Cotton Fibers, Built to Last.
Long-staple cotton fibers spin into smoother, stronger yarns with less bulk than standard cotton — a cleaner weave and a silkier surface that holds up wash after wash.

The Feel
Highly Absorbent, Sustainably Grown Cotton.
Aegean cotton creates plush, highly absorbent bath towels without the heaviness of standard terry cloth — sustainably grown and finished without harsh chemicals.
