NEW COLOR

The making

Made slowly, in small batches.

The color

Set against oak, cane, or an unpainted plaster wall, it disappears in the best possible way.

Pull one down at the end of a shower and the first thing to register is how little it weighs in the hand.

The fringe hangs straight instead of curling.

The weave

A single layer of loosely spun Turkish cotton, woven flat rather than looped, gives this towel its particular hand: cool at first touch, quick to warm, thin enough to wring nearly dry. Less material means less water held, so it comes off the rail ready for use again the same evening. Twisted fringe at each end finishes the cloth without the stiffness a hemmed edge brings.

Styling

Use this shade where something is already happening — patterned cement tile, a stone basin, a painted vanity. Oat Veil is quiet enough to sit under all of it without adding a second idea to the room. Two hand towels flanking a double sink, bath towels kept behind the door. It is also the color to buy if you want a bathroom that will not look dated in three years.

Frequently asked

How does it soften over time?New Turkish cotton carries a finish from the loom and feels slightly crisp out of the packaging. Washing releases it, and by the fourth or fifth cycle the cloth has visibly relaxed. It keeps loosening for months without thinning.

How long does it take to dry?Faster than terry, which is the whole argument for a flat weave. Hung with air reaching both sides, a bath size is usually dry within a few hours indoors — enough to keep a shared bathroom from smelling damp.

Will the fringe unravel in the wash? No. Every fringe is twisted and knotted at the edge, so the weave is closed off there. Launder with similar textures and keep zippers out of the load, which is the only real hazard for any fringed towel.

The Difference is in the Cotton

Aegean cotton used in Calinea Turkish towels

The Origin

Why Turkish Aegean Cotton Towels Feel Unrivaled.

Grown along Türkiye's Aegean coast, Aegean cotton is prized for its long-staple fibers and naturally smooth hand — the same qualities that make Turkish cotton towels a benchmark for softness worldwide. For Calinea, this premium cotton is the foundation of every bath towel we make.

Long-staple Turkish Aegean cotton fibers

The Fiber

Long-Staple Cotton Fibers, Built to Last.

Long-staple cotton fibers spin into smoother, stronger yarns with less bulk than standard cotton — a cleaner weave and a silkier surface that holds up wash after wash.

The Feel

Highly Absorbent, Sustainably Grown Cotton.

Aegean cotton creates plush, highly absorbent bath towels without the heaviness of standard terry cloth — sustainably grown and finished without harsh chemicals.
