SOFT

NEW COLOR

The making

Made slowly, in small batches.

The color

The weave catches light unevenly, so the surface carries a faint sheen when a towel hangs at full length.

In a white-tiled bathroom it draws a soft line down the wall rather than vanishing into it.

Wet, the shade deepens by a step or two, then returns lighter as the cotton dries.

This is the most modern color the line comes in.

The weave

Weight is what separates this line from our plush terry. There is very little pile here, so the cloth holds a fraction of the water a thick towel does and gives it back to the air quickly. The trade you make is coverage: this is a towel you use briskly rather than one you wrap up in. Hand-knotted fringe at both ends replaces a sewn hem and keeps the edge flexible.

  • Low-pile flat weave, fringed at both ends

Styling

Grey towels earn their keep in rooms with hard metal in them. Black taps, a chrome rail, a steel-framed mirror — Silver Mist sits between those and the white of the tile, so nothing looks stranded. It is also the sensible pick near a pool or an outdoor shower, where anything paler shows every mark and anything darker bleaches out in full sun.

Frequently asked

How many should I order?Count on two bath sizes for each person using the room, so one can dry while the other is out. A set of four covers most couples. Six is the sensible number if you host, or if laundry happens weekly.

Should I choose the light towel or the plush one? This one is for quick showers, small bathrooms, and anyone who dislikes bulk. Maris is thicker terry for people who want depth and a longer wrap. Weight is the only real difference; both are Turkish cotton.

Does it get softer?Yes, and noticeably so. The mill finish washes out across the first few cycles and the cotton settles into a looser, more pliable cloth. Run it through the machine before first use to start that off.

Available as well in Oat Drift, Oat Veil, and Rose Taupe.

The Difference is in the Cotton

Aegean cotton used in Calinea Turkish towels

The Origin

Why Turkish Aegean Cotton Towels Feel Unrivaled.

Grown along Türkiye's Aegean coast, Aegean cotton is prized for its long-staple fibers and naturally smooth hand — the same qualities that make Turkish cotton towels a benchmark for softness worldwide. For Calinea, this premium cotton is the foundation of every bath towel we make.

Long-staple Turkish Aegean cotton fibers

The Fiber

Long-Staple Cotton Fibers, Built to Last.

Long-staple cotton fibers spin into smoother, stronger yarns with less bulk than standard cotton — a cleaner weave and a silkier surface that holds up wash after wash.
