The making

Made slowly, in small batches.

The color

Weathered Taupe lands there.

The honeycomb face breaks the color into small planes, so it shifts as you move past the rail — warmer near a window, greyer in a corner.

Rolled into a basket beside the tub, the tone looks almost sandy; hung flat on the rail, it goes deeper and more grounded.

The weave

Miel's construction is a waffle grid of honeycomb pockets rather than a loop pile. The pockets hold water where a flat cloth would push it around, then release it through the open weave once the towel goes back on the rail. It stays light even after a full bath, and the texture is even across the whole piece. Every wash gives it more slack.

  • Pockets hold the water, the open weave lets it go — light even after a full bath

Styling

Weathered Taupe belongs in a house where sand gets tracked in. It sits well with terracotta tile, unfinished oak and the pale linen of a coastal bedroom, and a bath towel in this shade is forgiving after a swim. Keep a stack by an outdoor shower or a mudroom sink — the cloth is light enough to dry in open air between rinses.

Frequently asked

Does it get softer? It does, and quickly. Waffle towels arrive with a certain body to them; after a few cycles the raised cells give and the whole cloth loosens. By the second month it will feel nothing like the first day.

How does it wash?Use a warm or cold machine cycle and tumble on low heat. Softener coats the cells and slows absorbency, so leave it out. Line drying works as well — the towel firms up a little, then relaxes again with use.

Will the color fade?Earthy mid-tones like this one hold up well. A cold wash, low dryer heat and no direct sun on the rail keep the brown from drifting grey. Expect a small settling in the first month and little movement after.

The Difference is in the Cotton

Aegean cotton used in Calinea Turkish towels

The Origin

Why Turkish Aegean Cotton Towels Feel Unrivaled.

Grown along Türkiye's Aegean coast, Aegean cotton is prized for its long-staple fibers and naturally smooth hand — the same qualities that make Turkish cotton towels a benchmark for softness worldwide. For Calinea, this premium cotton is the foundation of every bath towel we make.

Long-staple Turkish Aegean cotton fibers

The Fiber

Long-Staple Cotton Fibers, Built to Last.

Long-staple cotton fibers spin into smoother, stronger yarns with less bulk than standard cotton — a cleaner weave and a silkier surface that holds up wash after wash.

The Feel

Highly Absorbent, Sustainably Grown Cotton.

Aegean cotton creates plush, highly absorbent bath towels without the heaviness of standard terry cloth — sustainably grown and finished without harsh chemicals.
