The weave
Linen is the reason this works as a beach bag. The fiber is stronger wet than dry, gives up water fast, and sheds sand once dry instead of holding it in a nap the way brushed canvas does. It softens with handling too, so the bag loses stiffness and gains shape across a season. The lining protects the linen from inside, and the faux-leather straps carry weight without cutting into a shoulder.

Styling
It goes to more places than the beach. Slung over a shoulder it handles a Saturday market run without the flimsiness of a canvas sack; packed inside a suitcase it flattens down and comes out as the bag you carry all week. Can the tote be washed?Spot clean it instead of putting it through a machine — neither the lining nor the straps respond well to a full cycle. For sand and salt, empty the bag out, let it dry completely, then shake it clean.
What fits inside?Two rolled bath towels with room to spare for sunscreen, a book, and a water bottle, which is the usual beach load. The opening stays wide enough to reach the bottom without unpacking the top first.
Does linen hold up to wet things?Linen is stronger wet than dry, so a damp towel poses no problem. Empty everything out afterward and let the bag air rather than storing it folded while the inside is still wet.
